Ready for a glamourous twirl? Coming from the Far East by the hand of our unique Miao (Hmong) ethnic lady artisans, this fabulous pleated skirt perfectly melts in the modern urban glamour with its colourful allure and the original patterns of ethnic design. Its exceptionally rich texture comes in a variety of sophisticated designs, sparkling in eye catching colour clashes which exalt the lively totemic patterns representing heavenly symbols, flowers and plants. The skirt is carefully handwoven with wax batik technique on sturdy Cotton & Hemp fabric to ensure strength and durability without renouncing a comfortable fit. This treasurable item is one of the increasingly rare exemplars of Miao traditional embroidery. Don't miss out the chance to collect it!

Unconventionally Casual Look-Versatile and Suitable for Most Seasons!

This astounding skirt is a key match for a variety of seasonal outfits, delicately injecting an ethnic light to any casual style. Easily fitting, it brings movement to your feminine figure with the lovely pleats exclusively hand created! You can choose from different combinations of joyful, catchy multicolour patterns to play with your look. Whether you go for a classy knee-length or a fresher short length, this glamourous skirt is especially suitable for mid-seasons, coming in thick Cotton & Hemp fabric which protects you from unnecessary breeze without the need of wearing tights. Pair it with ankle boots for a fusion country-style, or some sneakers or flats to top-up your sporty-chic look. Its sophisticated patterns go well with more elegant outfits too: wear it with a neutral blouse and some décolleté shoes to give an ethnic twist to your bon-ton look! We praise originality, hang this outstanding skirt on your wall anytime to make the greediest collectors jealous!

About Miao Hmong Pleated Skirts

Each enchanting skirt comes from the heartful talent of the Miao Hmong ladies living in the remote Southwest China and Northern Thailand. Miao Hmong textile art is globally known for its exceptionally colourful and rich texture, including over 14 stitching techniques that women learn since the age of six. Pleated skirts are created with an intricate and time-consuming process. After weaving the hemp or cotton fabric with a handloom, a sticky thick liquid made of water and rice is sprayed on the surface. Then, pleats are created with fast and meticulous finger movements. The fabric is left to dry on a rounded surface and prepared for Wax Batik. To protect the patterned area from dyeing, a brush dipped in wax is used to mark the design. Abstract symbols usually represent stars, animals, flowers, or auspicious signs.

With youngsters moving to the urban centres, Miao Hmong artistic heritage risks to disappear due to the lack of apprentices. Worldwide private collectors and Museums including the British Museum in the UK, US Textile Museum and Minneapolis Institute of Arts work hard to protect it. In 2006, the Chinese Government aligned with UNESCO enlisted Miao embroidery and batik in the Intangible Cultural Heritage for its contribution to cultural diversity and human creativity.
