Miao Hmong silver ornament is a real gem in the world of ethnic jewelry. It originated some 2000 years ago, and gradually evolved into a symbol of ethnic aesthetic and art form, where its genuine ethnic design, very fine and exquisite details, and intricate craftsmanship technique making it stunning, unique and remarkable.

Miao Hmong jewelry comes in many forms, from large piece sophisticated tiaras and necklaces, to delicate hairpins, bracelets and earrings. You will also find many vividly carved objects such as bird, flower, butterfly, dragon, horse and phoenix, as a way to express their aesthetic feeling toward natural beauty.

Each piece of silver ornament is originally designed and carved by Miao Hmong Silversmith. It requires a series of a rather skill oriented tasks including silver burning, blending, hammering, engraving, cutting, twining, fine detailing and polishing. This inherited technique has been unique to ethnic Miao Hmong, making it a distinct piece of jewelry ornament, as well as a heritage treasure carrying the very best of ethnic handicraft arts.

Item Name: Sidong Tiara + Two Horns (one large, one small)
Item Brief: This magnificent, luxurious tiara is one of the top masterpieces in Oriental ethnic jewelry ornament. It measures 1.8 feet height and composes of four different parts: the main tiara, the front group of shorter dragons, the back group of taller dragons, and four back “feathers”. This superb artwork is a result of years of solid experience, requiring a sophisticated craftsmanship skill, a detail oriented mindset and a great deal of diligence. The sphere of the base tiara symbolizes the ideal nature, with numerous phoenixes, birds and butterflies playing harmonically on the rich flowery field. On the ground are cavaliers guarding the land, while on the top are dragons of various sizes flying along with celestial birds and butterflies. It also hangs numerous carved dangles sparkling “ting ting” sound imitating birds singing. This spectacular ornament is one of the best in demonstrating the high level of genuine ethnic ornamental jewelry art, as well as showcasing their ideal harmonic spiritual world.

He was born from a long tradition Miao Silversmith family, and is already in their 4th generation in this profession.
